We go naked because

we want nothing of this world;

for we came into the world

naked and unclothed.

Tribute to Marco Polo

A copper medallion with the profile of Marco Polo, positioned on the lower part of the receiver, immediately draws attention. On its sides, a refined compass rose narrates the explorer’s epic story: on the left, Marco Polo embarks on horseback toward unknown lands, while on the right, he returns by sea, completing the circle of a legendary journey. This detail, rich in symbolism, celebrates the spirit of adventure and the bond between distant cultures.

Epic Journeys

The side plates of the SO Sparviere Marco Polo shotgun narrate the explorer’s journeys through finely detailed engravings crafted using the burin technique. On the left side, Venice, Marco Polo’s birthplace and the starting point of his extraordinary adventures, is depicted. On the right side, the explorer is portrayed in the Mongolian steppes, surrounded by the grandeur of the architecture, nature, and cultures of the Asian territories.

The Essence of Exploration

On the hammered and punched body of the receiver, various elements evoke the themes of navigation and exploration: a portolan (or Periplus), the principal archive of geographic information for maritime navigation, seamlessly covers the metal surface, accompanied by copper-enamelled compass roses that embellish the hinge pins, opening lever, screws, and pistol grip. A copper inlay motif with diamonds and stars adorns the trigger guard, fore-end iron, top lever, top rib, action flanks, safety, sight bead, and the inner side plates. The hand-detachable sidelock action of the SO Sparviere allows for an unobstructed view of the intricate internal decorations.

A Timeless Blend of Elegance and History

The case for the SO Sparviere Marco Polo shotgun is a masterpiece of design and craftsmanship, covered in premium bright yellow leather and enhanced with a digital print of a map depicting Europe, Asia, and Africa—the known world during Marco Polo’s time. Refined blue leather finishes embellish the edges and handle, adding an exclusive touch of elegance.

The interior is lined with sumptuous Venetian red silk, adorned with a sophisticated pattern of golden roses, creating a harmonious and luxurious contrast with the exterior.

The locking mechanism, extraordinary in its craftsmanship, is adorned with the iconic PB emblem and logo, a symbol of excellence and prestige.

Excellence in Every Detail

Completing the engraving, an array of extraordinary details enriches every part of the shotgun, making it a true masterpiece of craftsmanship. The stock and fore-end are crafted from premium Grade 5 walnut, selected for its exceptional beauty and durability, and finished with approximately 80 layers of Tru-Oil® to deliver a deep gloss and unparalleled protection. The hand-executed Scottish checkering, with its precise diamond pattern, harmonizes with the intricate metallic decorations, achieving a perfect balance of materials and design.

The Steelium® Optimabore® HP barrels, blued and mirror-polished with artisanal care, provide superior ballistic performance combined with impeccable aesthetics. Every detail of the shotgun speaks of elegance, tradition, and innovation, transforming it into a true work of art destined to leave an indelible mark in the history of collectible firearms.
